ISI ResearchSoft Ships EndNote 4.0 for Macintosh and Windows

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Berkeley, CA - March 6, 2000 - ISI ResearchSoft today released a major new upgrade to EndNote, the world's most popular bibliographic software. EndNote 4 presents a new user interface and offers an even greater level of customization to the user. Along with improved bibliographic options and an enhanced feature set, these advances make researching and writing easier than ever.

"Our two aims for EndNote 4.0 were to meet the latest Macintosh and Windows interface specifications and to provide important new features, without sacrificing EndNote's ease-of-use. I'm proud to say that we have accomplished these goals, said Dr. Richard Niles, President and CEO of ISI ResearchSoft. "We listened to what our customers were telling us, and they'll be pleased that EndNote 4's feature set includes many of their suggestions."

Response to the new version has been overwhelmingly positive. As Kim Sorvig of the University of New Mexico says, "I ranked EndNote 3 as the best single piece of software I'd ever used. EndNote 4 is even better, with many important new functions - yet it is as easy to learn. . . ." Dr. Wolfgang Cramer, Postdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, adds, "A rock-solid continuation of earlier versions. I cannot imagine editing scientific papers without it."

Greater Customization and Flexibility
With EndNote 4, users can personalize their reference databases by selecting which fields to display, by sorting column headings with a click of the mouse, and by resizing the column widths. And now users can even preview individual records in hundreds of different bibliographic styles from the database window. "I love the new preview feature where I can access the full information for each reference of interest without opening it," says John Harrington, University of Maine at Presque Isle, Counseling Center.

Enhanced Data Management Tools
EndNote 4 contains a multitude of new and improved features to save time in managing references. These include the automatic addition of authors, keywords and journals to the Term Lists as they are entered, along with auto-completion to facilitate data entry. Now users can save Internet search strategies for re-use. Enhanced duplicate detection makes managing reference collections easier. "As a heavy user of EndNote I am very impressed with this latest release. The new features are impressive - and very intuitive. Overall, I think you've done a terrific job with this software," says Sherrilynne Fuller, Ph.D., Head, Division of Biomedical and Health Informatics, University of Washington School of Medicine.

Advanced Bibliographic Options
EndNote 4.0 includes more than 30 new bibliographic features that address a wide range of formatting issues in the physical, life and social sciences, biomedicine, and the humanities. With these enhancements, EndNote is the only bibliographic software program that can meet the demanding requirements of a wide range of publications from Science to the Modern Language Association. To facilitate the editing of journal styles, a new Styles Window lets users manage all the formatting from one easy-to-navigate panel. All these features make creating bibliographies even easier than before.

"Unreservedly recommended," says Dr. John S. March of Duke University Medical Center.

Pricing and Availability
EndNote 4 is designed for Macintosh OS 7.5.5 or later and Windows 95, 98, 2000, and NT. The list price of EndNote is $299. Students can purchase EndNote for $99.95 with a valid student I.D. Special upgrade prices are available to owners of previous versions. EndNote 4 is available from ISI ResearchSoft, college and university bookstores, and authorized resellers worldwide.
